SafeSend Organizers Client Experience-Step by Step Guide

This article is a visual guide to show the taxpayer experience from beginning to end.  Click on each step below to expand the steps and walk through the client process for accessing, signing, and filling out the organizer.

1.) Initial Email

  1. The email subject for the first email will be "Please review and Complete your Tax Organizer for (firm name)".
  2. The initial email will come from either the name of the sender or the name of the firm at 'noreply@safesendreturns.com'.
  3. The logo of the firm will typically display in the email, or else it will default to the SafeSend Returns logo.
  4. The email will contain a link to access your return.  Clicking on the link will take you to Step 2.
2.) Start Page

  1. The firm's name will be displayed in the top left of the screen.
  2. Contact Person: You can click this to reach out to a specified contact at the firm if you have any questions about your organizer. 
  3. The document description and name of the recipient.
  4. The name of the preparing Firm.
  5. Click on "Get Started" in order to proceed to Step 3: Verification
3.) Verification Screen

  1. After clicking 'Click Here to Get Started', you get one of two pages based on your firm's settings.
    1. Mobile Access Code 
    2. Email Access Code
      1. For both methods, in order to receive an access code, you must click on the Request Access Code button.  Once selected, a green banner will appear letting you know that your request has been received.
      2. Once you receive it, either in your email or in a text message, enter it in the code field.
      3. Once entered, click Continue to reach Step 4.
4.) Welcome Page

  1. This line displays the Contact Person if you need to reach out to them, and a settings panel where you can log out. 
  2. A quick overview of the steps in SafeSend Returns.
  3. Click Here to Continue takes you to Step 5: Sign Engagement Letter
5.) Sign Engagement Letter

 

This page displays the engagement letter from the firm (if included).

  1. You will be prompted to sig. Use the "Start Sign" button to begin. 
  2. The "Next" button will guide you to all required fields.

  1. To Sign, you can click the signature box, then type your name or draw your signature. 
  2. Clicking Finish in the bottom right takes you back to the welcome page.
  3. Select Complete Organizer or Click Here to Continue to move to Step 6: Complete Organizer
  4. You can also Download the signed engagement letter by selecting "Download Engagement Letter". mceclip8.png
6.) Complete Organizer

  1. Document summary list. You can click these bookmarks to move to that page. 
  2. Navigation arrows - you can use these to click through the organizer pages. 
  3. Navigation by page number - you can type a page number in this box to navigate to that page
  4. The pages will have green fields that can be filled out. You will want to fill all the forms out completely. 
  5. You can "Save & Continue Later", this button will take you back to the welcome page. 
  6. Finish - This option will open a pop-up asking if you've completed all of the forms. mceclip12.png
  7. The "Review Missing Information" button will take you back to the organizer so you can review it. 
  8. The "Organizer Complete" button will take you to Step 7.
7.) Organizer Completed!

When you reach this step, you can log out using the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner, or you can select "Go to Summary Page". This will take you back to the welcome page. 

Select "Upload Documents" to continue to Step 8: Upload Documents

8.) Upload Documents 
mceclip15.png You can click or drag/drop into the box to upload any required documents, like W-2's. You can upload multiple documents. Once you are finished uploading documents, select "Save 7 Notify CPA". this will complete the process.
